Jessica was born and raised right here in Denver, Colorado. After studying Education and English Literature at CU-Boulder, she began teaching at Manual High School in 2004, where she got to take her students skiing and camping and fell in love with teaching students who spoke English as their second language. That year, however, the district decided to close the school down, and thus began her career passionately serving students who are under-served. After living and teaching in Ecuador for a year, she returned to get her Masters Degree from DU in school leadership, and began developing a vision for building a student re-engagement program that will one day be a national model. She wakes up every day and loves coming to work, as she knows she is doing everything she can to make that dream a reality. Her students and her staff make her smile every single day. In her free time, you can catch her on a mic singing or playing guitar, on a yoga mat, frollicking in the woods or in the snow, in front of a sizzling pan of yummy food. She loves the Broncos and her bicycle and coffee and all things artistic and beautiful.
